It’s particularly effective for areas with increased environmental exposure, providing a smoother texture and more resilient skin feel. Melanin-rich skin can present with a drier surface feel due to differences in ceramide composition and lipid organization in the stratum corneum, making TEWL reduction a foundational step in achieving a consistently even, glowing complexion.
